Teaching the Whole Student

“Doing my best to help every student achieve their best.” — Wendi Dicken

Music lessons should do more than teach notes, rhythm, and technique. My goal is to teach each student with care, patience, and excellence so they can grow in confidence and perform at their best.

Music education builds skills that reach far beyond the lesson room. Focus, discipline, listening, memory, emotional expression, and steady practice all support the way students learn, think, and communicate in other parts of life.

Just as important, I want my studio to be a place where students feel known, encouraged, and trusted. I take the time to understand each student as an individual — their personality, their goals, their challenges, and their potential.

About Me

A life in music, teaching, performance, and the arts.

I have been fortunate to spend my life in music — as a performer, teacher, conductor, director, and lifelong student of the arts.

My background includes more than 30 years of experience in voice, piano, flute, theater, choral music, and arts education. I have taught private students, college students, young performers preparing for auditions, adult singers, beginning musicians, and students with unique learning needs.

Along the way, I have had the privilege of learning from extraordinary teachers and mentors, performing in opera, musical theater, concert, and recital settings, and helping students and ensembles prepare for performances in places such as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.

Those experiences have shaped the way I teach. I believe strong technique matters. I believe careful preparation matters. But I also believe students grow best when they feel encouraged, understood, and respected.

Whether a student is just beginning, preparing for an audition, returning to music after years away, or simply wanting to grow in confidence, my goal is to meet that student where they are and help them take the next meaningful step.
